The Evelyn

My sons and I loved our room, the staff were friendly and helpful, with great suggestions on what we could do during our visit. Loved the hotel lobby and bar, beautiful decor. Will definitely stay here during our next visit

Comfortable stay

The hotel lobby, rooms, and hallways all have elegant retro decor, which provides a great atmosphere for a getaway. The room was quiet and comfortable despite it's prime location in Flat Iron amid the hustle and bustle of the city The bathroom was especially adorable

Great little spot near the Shake Shack!

Frankly, I booked this hotel on a Black Friday special and got an outrageous deal. The room was pretty small, but functional (lots of USB ports!), and very comfortable. You have to go down to the lobby early morning for coffee, but you also get some nice pastries! The property itself is very attractive and they use a theater/music theme throughout, including some beautiful tile work in the shower! The big selling point is the location. You are very near the 28th Street subway station, close to a Smith's, and a short block from the Madison Square Shake Shack. This also puts you about mid-way from Midtown and The Village. Staff is wonderful and very helpful. A side-tip (could be plus or minus) is the Museum of Sex is on the corner

Great historic feel

This hotel has a really nice 1930s vibe in the decor and overall ambiance. The rooms are super clean and beds are comfortable, but the rooms are really small. This is true to most New York Hotels. if you want a big room stay at a chain and pay 5x more. As for location, it's a little off the beaten path, which I liked. I have been to New York 5-6 times and usually stay in Times Square. it's nuts over there. So loud and tons of Sirens. This hotel is nice and quiet. The only small complaint (and the reason why I gave 3 stars) that I have is that there isn't hot water in the morning. I'm guesing that the plumbing is in dire need of an upgrade. I got around this by showering at night and didn't have any problems. Really, this hotel is such a gem. I love the style and old-school manhattan cultural feel. Also, the restuarant and bakery are top-notch
