This was my first time in New York and I can proudly state that the Frederick provided me with more reasons to love New York. From the moment you arrive, the door is pulled open, and you’re greeted with a warm smile, you know your stay here will be great - you immediately feel welcomed and at home. From the lush velvet furnishings, to the Art Deco finishes that are dotted throughout, and the artwork that ties it all together, you feel that this is not just a typical hotel lobby, but an intimate setting that invites you to explore more. And as you venture beyond the curtain and get to experience Primos bar, at the rear it’s unlike any hotel bar I’ve been in. It feels like a local hangout, with a crowd as eclectic as the musical playlist serenading us from the bar - the vibe felt perfect. As a solo traveller, hotel bars are not usually a place I frequent, but here strangers will chat without any agenda, the bar staff take care of you, and you can sit on your stool, eat pasta, swallow cocktails and find your own piece of heaven in New York. At times it may be there are more locals than guests visiting here - always a good sign! Of course all the usual hotel checks of location, bedroom, bathroom etc, were great too. But the people of the hotel and primos give it a unique charm that other hotels should covet. There is no saccharine fakery here. It’s the real deal! Genuine New York attitude is alive and kicking at the Frederick and it was the highlight of my trip. Thank you.

Very clean, and modern looking room. Pictures make it look like the blue carpet is tacky and old. But it really isn't that bad in person. Bathroom is very nice and updated. Hotel staff was very responsive and nice. No complaints at all during my stay. I would recommend.
