Meet the Lender: Greater Jamaica Development Corp. One of the most challenging issues for small business owners is finding the much needed capital to grow their business. Join us to meet with a lender based in Queens. In this workshop, attendees will have the opportunity to hear and meet with the Greater Jamaica Development Corporation (GJDC), formed in 1967 it was one of the nation's first community development corporations. GJDC is a nonprofit, alternative lender that provides small business loans here in Queens, to businesses in the 114xx & 116xx zip code areas, with a specific eye to underserved communities in order to promote economic development. While they do have guidelines for loan approval, they are usually willing to look beyond traditional lending criteria to determine whether or not a client is creditworthy. They want to hear the business's story and assess the owner's character in addition to the financials presented to them.
